Rather than limit myself to the usual one-odd-story per post regime, I am bringing you THREE odd stories from which my readers can derive some valuable life-lessons. Or, at the very least, lessons on how to stay out of jail:
DON'T:
1) Attempt to use 911 as a taxi service to drive your drunk self home from a bar. A 28 year old New Haven, Connecticut, woman called 911 no less than six times in one night asking for a lift from a local bar to her home. She has been charged with misuse of an emergency system and was recently released on $1000 bond. Full story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36768396/ns/us_news/?ocid=MSNToolbar100
2) Take a pee right behind the store you just robbed. A 43 year old man in Suffolk, Virginia, was caught by the police urinating at the back of the convenience store he had just finished robbing. The stolen cash was in his pockets. Moral - if you're going to do a hold up, you're going to have to hold it. Full story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36744290/ns/us_news/?ocid=MSNToolbar100
3) Attempt to rob the wrong house. Because apparently, "no officer, I meant to rob these other people" won't get you very far. A Colorado Springs man was recently arrested after entering the bedroom of a home at 3 am, showing the occupants a handgun, and then telling them he was at the wrong house. The best "Don't" of all, of course is DON'T BREAK THE LAW. Thankfully for the rest of us, if the folks listed above couldn't be good examples, at least they are cautionary tales.
